O pedido foi feito via requerimento, encaminhado a Mesa Diretora da C\u00e2mara Municipal.<\/p>\n<p>No requerimento, Pedro Lucas Fernandes justifica o pedido lembrando que o Mercado Central \u00e9 um dos pontos tur\u00edsticos da cidade e encontra-se em p\u00e9ssimo estado de conserva\u00e7\u00e3o, necessitando de aten\u00e7\u00e3o especial do poder p\u00fablico.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cO Mercado Central re\u00fane cerca de 450 estabelecimentos e mant\u00e9m direta e indiretamente mil trabalhadores, em m\u00e9dia, al\u00e9m de todas as pessoas envolvidas na log\u00edstica do processo desde o transporte de mercadorias vindas de locais distantes. O mercado gera renda para quase 2.500 pessoas, incluindo flanelinhas e carregadores de sacolas\u201d, disse Pedro Lucas Fernandes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hist\u00f3ria<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>O Mercado Central foi constru\u00eddo em 1864. Em 1939, foi demolido e reconstru\u00eddo, dentro de uma reforma sanitarista do governador Paulo Ramos, quando passou a ser chamado de Mercado Novo. Na d\u00e9cada de 1940, devido \u00e0 exist\u00eancia de um curtume no local, ele foi chamado de Largo do A\u00e7ougue Velho. Em 1992, passou pela \u00faltima reforma.
