S\u00e3o artistas, m\u00fasicas, discos que se popularizaram, influenciando nossa cultura, sobretudo, em algumas cidades como S\u00e3o Lu\u00eds e Bel\u00e9m. Jimi Cliff \u00e9 um exemplo que alcan\u00e7ou muito sucesso e f\u00e3s no Brasil. Era t\u00e3o popular que chegou a morar no pa\u00eds, onde ensinou e aprendeu bastante.<\/p>\n<p>Al\u00e9m dele, \u00e9 claro, outros jamaicanos tamb\u00e9m tiveram presen\u00e7a marcante e uma afei\u00e7\u00e3o especial por aqui. \u00c9 o caso atual do artista Cedric Myton, membro e fundador da banda \u201cThe Congos\u201d, a qual embora tenha sido bastante popular na Jamaica j\u00e1 no final da d\u00e9cada de 70, somente em 2007 veio em terras tupiniquins e fez shows em S\u00e3o Paulo e Bel\u00e9m.<\/p>\n<p>O cantor Cedric, recentemente, voltou \u00e0 Jamaica, depois de uma longa passagem de seis meses pelo Brasil. Ele se apresentou em carreira solo em festivais e caravanas por grandes cidades como S\u00e3o Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Fortaleza, Bel\u00e9m e tamb\u00e9m em Imperatriz e S\u00e3o Lu\u00eds.<\/p>\n<p>Uma caracter\u00edstica revelada pelo cantor, nessas andan\u00e7as, \u00e9 o fato dos f\u00e3s sempre o pedirem que cante can\u00e7\u00f5es do seu \u00e1lbum \u201cFace the music\u201d, gravado em 1980. Em entrevista comigo, Cedric falou da import\u00e2ncia do referido disco e como se sente grato pelo interesse do p\u00fablico pelas m\u00fasicas que integram o trabalho: \u201cEu vi jovens e adultos cantando Sinking Ship. Foi inacredit\u00e1vel!\u201d. Declarou, ainda, a presen\u00e7a motivadora da esposa na constru\u00e7\u00e3o de sua carreira profissional: \u201cEla me incentivou muito. Devo todo o meu sucesso a ela\u201d. Da mesma forma que externou ao Jamaica Observer, maior jornal online da Jamaica, Cedric comentou ao programa Reggae Point sobre a recep\u00e7\u00e3o que teve no pa\u00eds do futebol: \u201cUma vibra\u00e7\u00e3o m\u00edstica, o Brasil \u00e9 uma lugar m\u00edstico, de pessoas agrad\u00e1veis, que apreciam o reggae aut\u00eantico, original, de raiz\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Aos 67 anos, o artista participou do carnaval 2014 em S\u00e3o Lu\u00eds, acompanhado pela banda Barba Branca.
