O cantor e compositor jamaicano Owen Gray faleceu no \u00faltimo dia 20 de julho, aos 86 anos, no interior de Londres, onde residia h\u00e1 alguns anos. A informa\u00e7\u00e3o foi confirmada por pessoas pr\u00f3ximas \u00e0 fam\u00edlia. De acordo com relatos, h\u00e1 a possibilidade de que ele tenha falecido enquanto dormia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gray havia sido diagnosticado com c\u00e2ncer de pulm\u00e3o e tamb\u00e9m havia sofrido um acidente vascular cerebral nos \u00faltimos anos. Morava sozinho, mas recebia cuidados m\u00e9dicos domiciliares, com visitas regulares de enfermeiros e acompanhamento das filhas. Mesmo debilitado, o artista continuou gravando m\u00fasicas exclusivas para as tradicionais radiolas de reggae.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

O produtor comercial de reggae Pepeto relatou que tomou conhecimento do estado de sa\u00fade de Gray durante uma viagem a Londres, feita para trabalhar com ele: \u201cEu e Rubinho Star alug\u00e1vamos um apartamento e montamos um est\u00fadio improvisado para gravar com ele. Foi nesse per\u00edodo que ele nos contou sobre a doen\u00e7a. Lembro que ele se concentrava muito para gravar, e cheguei a v\u00ea-lo em l\u00e1grimas, tentando fazer o que mais gostava: cantar.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pepeto acrescentou que Owen Gray era uma pessoa simples e acolhedora: \u201cSempre nos recebia muito bem. Nos chamava de filhos. Pouco tempo depois, ele sofreu um AVC. Fomos visit\u00e1-lo no interior de Londres. Percebi que ele estava grogue, por conta das medica\u00e7\u00f5es. Eu lamento muito a perda dele.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
